Separating the software license from third-party API usage
When someone hears “lifetime license,” the most important question to ask is: “Where do the ongoing compute and data costs live?” Any software that runs cloud AI models or live SERP scrapes on its own servers cannot honestly offer a $39 one-time price without either going out of business or throttling you with hidden limits.
Searchbop works sustainably as a one-time purchase because your computer runs the software locally and connects to your own API accounts:
| Feature or Data Source | Included in One-Time App License? | External Provider Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Searchbop Desktop App & Local SQLite Database | Included (No recurring Searchbop fee) | $0 (Runs on your own computer) |
| Live HTML, Canonical, Sitemap & 14-Bot Crawler Audits | Included | $0 (Fetches your pages directly over HTTPS) |
| Google Search Console & Google Analytics (GA4) Sync | Included | $0 (Google provides Search Console & GA4 APIs free for your sites) |
| Bing Webmaster Tools, IndexNow & Google Trends | Included | $0 (Free first-party webmaster keys & built-in collector) |
| GitHub Pull Requests & Local Git Repo Changes | Included | $0 (Uses your standard GitHub account and PAT) |
| AI Chat, Explanations, Article Drafts & Live AI Probes | Workspace integration included (No bundled AI credits) | Pay-as-you-go to your chosen AI provider (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, Qwen, Kimi, Z.ai, OpenRouter, or $0 with a local model) |
| Optional Paid Keyword Volume & SERP Scraping | Connector included | Optional pay-as-you-go to DataForSEO or SerpApi if you choose to connect them |
Solo, Pro, and Agency: one-time pricing by workspace capacity
Every Searchbop plan includes the exact same features, all nine AI connections, and all search/publishing integrations. The only difference is how many sites (including split subdomains) you manage in your workspace:
-
Solo · $39 once
Up to 3 Sites · 2 Devices
Built for solo founders, indie hackers, and creators managing their main product site, documentation subdomain, or personal blog.
-
Pro · $69 once
Up to 15 Sites · 2 Devices
Built for multi-project builders, serial founders, and small teams managing a portfolio of sites and service subdomains.
-
Agency · $299 once
Up to 1,000 Sites · 2 Devices
Built for technical SEO consultants, studios, and portfolio operators auditing and maintaining dozens or hundreds of properties.
How much do third-party APIs actually cost for a typical site?
Because Google Search Console, GA4, Bing Webmaster Tools, IndexNow, and direct HTML page auditing cost $0.00 in API fees, your only variable cost is the AI tokens (and optional SERP lookups) you trigger:
- Routine technical audit + Search Console sync: $0.00. Crawling 100 pages on your site and pulling 28 days of Search Console queries and URL Inspection verdicts uses zero LLM tokens.
- Interactive AI chat & title/meta optimizations: Typically $0.01 to $0.05 per session depending on whether you select a fast model (like GPT-4o mini, Claude Haiku, Gemini Flash, or DeepSeek) or a frontier reasoning model.
- Drafting a full Markdown article + opening a PR: Typically $0.03 to $0.18 per article with frontier models such as Claude Sonnet or GPT-4o.
- Running a 3-prompt live AI web-search visibility probe: Typically $0.03 to $0.12 per test run depending on the provider’s web-search tool fee (OpenAI, Claude, or Gemini).
For a solo founder managing 1 to 3 sites with weekly audits, occasional chat questions, and 4–6 new or refreshed articles a month, total direct AI provider billing typically lands between $2 and $8 per month—with $0 billed during months you don’t run AI tasks.
04 / TWO-YEAR OWNERSHIP MATHComparing 24 months of SaaS vs. a one-time desktop license

|---|---|---|
| Software Subscription / License | $3,096 ($129 × 24 months) | $69 once ($0 recurring app fee) |
| Search Console, Bing & HTML Audits | Bundled into monthly fee | $0 (Direct API + local crawler) |
| Estimated AI Token Usage (~$5/mo avg) | Capped by SaaS credit tier | ~$120 paid directly to your AI provider |
| 24-Month Total | $3,096+ (and access stops if you cancel) | ~$189 total (and you keep the app license) |
Device activations, operating systems, and our 14-day refund policy
- Two active devices per license: Your license key activates up to 2 computers (tracked via Polar license activation). Because your workspace database is stored locally in SQLite for privacy, data does not automatically sync in the cloud between your two devices.
- Platform availability: The macOS version is available now for Mac with Apple silicon. The Windows version is currently in development—if you only use a Windows PC, please wait until the Windows release is published before buying.
- 14-day refund window: Purchases are processed by Polar, our merchant of record. If Searchbop isn’t right for your workflow, email us within 14 days of purchase and we’ll issue a full refund of your license purchase through Polar (see our Refund Policy).
